''Sets his mind to become a lorry driver post his Degree, empathizing with his mother suffering from illness and his father struggling to arrange finances for his wife's treatment.''

Hearing this literally filled our eyes with tears.

Maheswaran, Software Development Engineer (SDE 1) at Piccosoft narrates the story of his struggle. He hailed from Thiruchengode in Namakkal, Tamil Nadu. His dad is a lorry driver and his mom had a micro-scale home-based handloom business. He has an elder sister.

Maheswaran studied in a Government school in Suriya Paliyam and post his 12th, when he sought admission to arts, in government quota for the natives, he got a free seat in Sengunthar College of Arts and Science. He attended college for a year when his mom's health started deteriorating day by day. She suffered from cancer. She had to close down her handloom business. Due to his mom's health reasons, he quit college as he wanted to be with his mom and take care of her.

Then, as his mom's health conditions got a little better, she encouraged him to rejoin his Arts course. She was regretting that his son is bright and responsible and he has to continue his studies. So, finally, after losing a year, he gets a paid seat at Kongu Arts and Science College and he continues to study B.Sc (Computer Science).

While his mom's treatment will continue for a few years, his dad spends a lot of money. They ultimately end up spending all the savings they had, which included what his mom had saved from her handloom business. In order to take care of his mom, his dad will stop driving the lorry and will try to find out something that is local to him and starts driving a school bus, for which he was not getting paid much. When all these are going on, Maheswaran successfully completes his degree.

When he had to find a job suiting his qualification, he saw the plight of his family's financial condition. Maheswaran decides to take up lorry driving as he was not getting a job immediately and he realized the need for contributing to his family's income.

''I would not only drive a lorry. While loading and unloading I had to even give a helping hand to the coolies. Loads weighed like up to 50-60 kilos.'' - says Maheswaran.

He supports his parents for a year, while his elder sister gets married after her degree and shifts to Chennai to stay with her husband. Then, Sister's husband, who aspires Maheswaran to have a good career, offers him to stay with them in Chennai and look out for an IT job. He accommodates Maheswaran with food and stays. Maheswaran’s parents are thankful to their son-in-law for this and they encourage him to look out for a suitable job in Chennai city.

Maheswaran’s brother-in-law, a UI/UX Designer in a software company in Chennai could have recommended Maheswaran for a job. But he says to Maheswaran, rather than me recommending, I want you to look out for a job yourself and know the struggle. That will make you stronger and keep you motivated at work tomorrow.

Maheswaran’s brother-in-law helped many of Maheswaran’s friends to get a job, but always Maheswaran had to find a job himself. Finally, Maheswaran finds out about Piccosoft and attends an interview. He clears all the rounds and gets selected for the Trainee Software Developer role. Post his training in Front end Angular Development, he comes into payroll at Piccosoft as Software Development Engineer (SDE 1).

On Christmas - receiving a Secret Santa gift.

''Ma'am, even when I was driving a lorry, for Deepavali, I purchased a new saree for my mom and a new shirt for my dad. This time, while I was trying to save some money to purchase dresses for my parents, at the right time Suresh Sir offers me a Deepavali bonus. I will use this bonus money to purchase new clothes for my parents. I'm really thankful to Suresh Sir.'' Maheswaran says to Deepa K.S. - HR Manager, Piccosoft Software Labs.
